Role Overview:

Reports to: Lead Web Developer

As a Core Web Developer, you will focus on front-end development, collaborating with designers, back-end developers, and product managers to build functional, responsive web applications using React and WordPress. The role primarily involves bug fixing and providing support to ensure smooth platform performance but also includes opportunities to work on larger projects, implement new features, and contribute to decision-making. You'll play a vital role in improving user experiences while receiving guidance from senior team members to grow your skills and make a meaningful impact.

Job Description:

Collaborate with designers, back-end developers, and product managers to translate design concepts and user stories into functional and responsive web applications using React and WordPress.
Develop new user-facing features and components, leveraging React's component-based architecture, WordPress's block editor (Gutenberg) and bespoke PHP templates for efficient and maintainable code.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented JavaScript code following React and WordPress best practices.
Create custom WordPress themes that integrate seamlessly with existing functionality.
Optimise web applications and WordPress sites for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring a smooth user experience across various devices and browsers.
Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future projects across both platforms.
Troubleshoot and debug front-end issues in React applications and WordPress implementations.

Qualifications:

2+ years of experience as a web developer, with at least 2 years of experience with React and a solid understanding of React concepts.
2+years’ commercial experience with WordPress, including custom theme development.
Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), PHP, HTML, and CSS.
Experience with WordPress's block editor (Gutenberg) and modern WordPress workflows.
Ability to build responsive and user-friendly web applications.
Basic knowledge of performance optimization techniques and WordPress security best practices.
Experience with testing and debugging across multiple platforms and devices.

Nice to have:

Familiarity with additional JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue.js, Angular).
Familiarity with Git version control and best practices.
Exposure to integrating AI-driven solutions into web applications.
