Head of Marketing
Introduction:
Cloud Employee is building a ‘Future of Work’ AI driven talent tech platform in the remote software engineer staffing space.
In this strategic and hands-on creative role, you'll have the opportunity to shape the narrative of remote work and impact the tech industry at a global scale.
With team members across the US, LATAM, Europe and Asia - we’re on a mission to bridge the talent gap with our matching platform and innovative employee experience programs.
We need your storytelling strategy skills to ‘share the journey’ and the human stories behind our business.
About Cloud Employee:
We empower companies to build and hire international engineering teams seamlessly.
In 3 years, we’ve scaled our ARR to over £8m, grown our team from 5 to 200, and been working on an AI driven talent-tech portal (Storma) to better match companies and candidates. This will launch as a stand-alone recruitment ATS for companies in Q4 of 2024.
With the US projected to face a software engineer deficit of 1.2 million by 2026, demand is outstripping supply and companies have to look internationally.
We're not just about the tech; we're human-focused. In an increasingly remote-first world our holistic framework emphasises the importance of individual well-being, personal growth, and community.
The Role:
As the Head of Marketing, you'll work directly with and report into the co-founders to design and execute our marketing plan. Your role is to craft a clear and engaging narrative that showcases Cloud Employee’s innovative spirit, technological edge, and focus on people, establishing us as thought leaders and an employer software engineers aspire to join.
You'll have the canvas to experiment, innovate, and drive our brand forward through engaging, relatable and useful content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resources: Have direct access to existing freelance writers, videographers, designers, social media assistants, ai tools and more to support you.
- Build the A Team: Whilst you will have oversight across all marketing functions and be expected to be hands-on, you will have a monthly budget to spend on specialist freelancers, agencies and eventually FTE’s across the different functions.

- Lead Generation: You will be responsible to generate X amount of lead enquiries per month using cold outreach, paid, inbound etc.
- Content Strategy: Craft and oversee the creation of engaging content, from articles and video scripts to social media posts, embodying our culture, expertise, technology and differentiators. We want to talk about how and why we do things.
- Social Media Management: Oversee our social media strategy, ensuring consistent and impactful engagement with our audience. Philippines based Social Media Manager will report to you.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with our People Ops, Employee Experience and L&D teams to spotlight life at Cloud Employee.
- Content Calendar Management: Maintain a content calendar to ensure the steady flow of meaningful content.
- Newsletter Ownership: Oversee the development of separate email newsletters for prospect clients, software developers and existing clients.
- Website Optimization and Conversion: Actively manage and enhance our website content and UX to ensure it remains accurate and is conversion optimised.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on the impact of content and social media efforts.
Use Composer
One of the best practices for writing PHP code is, surprisingly, to write less of it. While one of the best ways to improve in programming and get familiarised with the language is to code and code, it is a different story when the aim is efficiency and productivity.
The large community has solved a large number of problems when it comes to development with PHP, such as routing, basic input validation libraries, unit conversation, database abstraction layers, and more. As you browse throughPHP package repositories, you are likely to find solutions to problems you’re trying to solve that have already been tested as well.
There is nothing wrong with writing your own framework or library, or writing all the code by yourself especially as a learning experience. But using existing frameworks and libraries, especially those which are tried and tested, can make you more efficient.
Using Composer, particularly, can make the work easy for you. It lets you define a JSON file that lists your code’s dependencies. Then, it will try to resolve the requirements for you by downloading and installing the necessary code bundles.
